Asus Shanghai factory to start mobile phone production in June 2006

This year, AsusTek is gearing up to enter into the mobile
phone market more aggressively than before. The rough estimation of production
output for its own brand of mobile phone will be over two millions units and
there will be 500,000 units in Taiwan market. Due to its global strategy, Asus
will enforce the establishment of distribution in Asia Pacific market. The
target of Asus's Shanghai Nan Hui factory is to produce the first own brand 3C
products and mobile phone would be the first one. Company insiders expect to get
the China domestic sale license in the second half of 2006 and enforce the setup
in China market in 2007 and 2008. Lin Zong Liang, GM, Asia-Pacific Division,
Asus stated that Asus has released four mobile phones in the first quarter and
expects to release another six in the second quarter.
