The world is going mobile. Lapping it up, Asus India has launched a new

notebook F3J, mainly expanding its product portfolio and offer-ings in the

market. Asus is getting very aggressive in the Indian market to attain the top

five slot in notebooks by 2008 and banking on the channels to make it. For the

first time, Asus will go into the market appointing authorized channel partners

across 10 major cities in India, to sell its laptops. “India is a key market

for Asus worldwide and the laptop growth is on a fast pace here. We want to

provide end-to-end solution for the Indian market, meeting the requirements of

every single customer here,” said Richard Chen, Notebook Product Manager,

Asustek Computer.

With active channel prog-rams, Asus is confident of making it to the top

within a short period of time. “We have an exciting product range with

outstanding designs and quality. All we need is channel support to race ahead of

our competitors,” he said. The company will be appointing over 25 authorized

channel partners across 10 major locations in the country, within the next

couple of months. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kol-kata, Bangalore, Hyderabad,

Ahmedabad and Cochin are on the list.

On the product front, Asus is currently offering seven models in the market

and would add another three shortly. “We have products mainly in the sub-40K

range and Rs 50,000-60,000 price band, which are mainstream models,” quipped

Chen.

It is also strengthening its service and is in the process of appointing a

nationwide service partner, which is expected to be announced shortly.
