Asus expects double digit growth in Notebooks

The portable space is booming and has seen the entrance of ultra lightweight notebooks, tablet computers and hybrid devices in the recent time. These form factors have co-existed, leveraging on the increase in reach and penetration of mobile broadband data services, content and 'apps. In FY 14 Asus is aiming for higher growth with its range of notebooks.

These form factors have co-existed, leveraging on the increase in reach and penetration of mobile broadband data services, content and 'apps. In FY 14 Asus is aiming for higher growth with its range of notebooks.

In an email interview with The DQ Week, Peter Chang, Regional Head - South Asia, Country Manager - System Business Group, ASUS India says, "We are expecting a double digit growth in Notebooks. Hybrid devices have revolutionised the market trends, we would be equally focused in introducing our innovative range of hybrid devices like Transformer Series, and PadFone". In order to focus on the high growth areas, Asus is aiming at having increased number of branches in India. Their focus has also been shifted to Tier II and Tier III areas. To cater to that, Peter Chang says, "We are working on increasing the channel partners and manpower to be able to reach each and every partner in each state. Furthermore, we will continue to increase our presence in tier 2 and tier 3 cities with our ongoing retail expansion venture".

It is also working on strengthening its distribution channel and have recently appointed new partners. It is focusing on escalating regional level distributors to help them ensure that their products reach tier-2 and tier-3 cities apart from the tier-1 cities. Asus is also conducting various channel meets and seminars which help us in understanding and further changing their relation with the partners for better.

Despite these channels, Peter Chang adds, Asus is very aggressive with its retail expansion. It has played a key role in boosting Asus' presence so as to enhance the overall reach aspect. Chang believes it is a momentous step in getting closer to their customers and it also reflects ther focus towards retail as a key focus area for Asus' India operation.
