Asus announced its partnership with Chung-Hwa Telecom to launch 3.5G Wi-Fi
notebook PC (NB) computer-'V2'. It is estimated that Asus branded NB
volume will reach 4.5 million units and the revenue will break through NT$300
billion. Asus branded NB has been showing good performance with increasing
growth every year. The debut of white NB and leather NB has seen a great demand
from the market. Meanwhile, Asus is the first company to introduce 3.5G Wi-Fi NB
this month and will introduce dual display NB in Feb. The volume of Asus NB
business reached six million units in which the self-own brand volume accounted
for three million units. In 2007, Asus plans to reach nine million units. Asus
branded NB is ranked as number nine worldwide, number five in Asia Pacific
region, number four in China and number one in Taiwan. Internally, Asus' NB
business is larger than its motherboard business; the NB business accounted for
35 percent of the total revenue of Asus. In terms of revenue in 2006, Asus
reported that their total revenue was NT$540 billion in which NB business
reached NT$200 billion. The revenue goal of Asus is NT$750 billion in 2007 and
its is aiming at reaching NT$300 billion in itsNB business. Asus V2 features
Dual-Core, 3.5G Wi-Fi and Vista Business OS.
