ASUS India has appointed Delhi based Global Infonet for its newly launched F&S series of ultrabooks, which are priced at Rs 35,999 and Rs 46,999. With the new range of ultrabooks, ASUS has completed its offerings for all type of customer preferences. Moreover, the company has also announced that it will become a top 3 notebook vendor by FY'14, with having 15% marketshare. Currently, ASUS claims to have 7% marketshare in notebook and netbook.
Speaking to The DQ Week Unaez Quraishi, director, sales and distribution, India system group, ASUS Technologies said, "For our F&S series of notebook and ultrabook, we intend to have separate national distributors. Therefore, Global Infotech will be responsible for both the new line up, wherein our Zenbook ultrabook will continue to be available through our existing national distributors and regional distributors."
The company has positioned its S series as mainstream ultrabook, wherein its F series is a thin and light portable powered with Intel third generation processor.
The company's rationale to appoint Global was to seek more traction from the small and medium business (SMB). ASUS has strong presence in SOHO and end-customers, but with Global, they will start tapping the SMB customers.
He also added, "With the launch of the ultrabook, which is priced at half of our earlier version of Zenbook, we assume our channel will be comfortable in positioning it better. We have offered 15.6 inch with optical drive feature which is the most sought-after feature by the customers. Overall we want to double our ultrabook marketshare from current 5% to 10%."
