Singapore-based Ascendas Pte Ltd is planning to create state-of-the-art IT
parks in Pune and Kolkata, besides exploring two-tier cities like Vizag in
Andhra Pradesh. The business space solution provi-der is also considering expan-ding
the existing IT park facilities in Hyderabad, Banga-lore and Chennai.

"When demand is there, supply should subsequently take place. The IT and
ITeS sectors are growing rapidly obviously attracting emerging markets like Pune
and Kolkata. We are a company, which is not confined to one city. We don't
want to miss out any location," said Pang Yee Ean, CEO Ascendas (India)
head of operations, and L&T Infocity. It may be recalled that Ascendas
(India) had entered into a JV with L&T Infocity to create the Rs 120 crore
IT complex in Hyde-rabad that was inaugurated in October last year.

Explaining about the market saturation in places like Bangalore, Ean said,
"The IT and ITeS sector is growing and companies continue to invest in
these markets. So we don't intend to move out from the existing locations but
intend to expand our presence in other states. Of course, we will conti-nue
developing and expanding the existing facilities."

"Equally, there is lot of demand for space in Hyde-rabad too and the
space aro-und HiTech city is exhausted. We are looking at other loca-tions in
and around Hydera-bad to come up with another IT park besides looking at Vizag,"
added Ean.
