Chennai-based Apcom has introduced the DX-7014BR router, a high performance Internet access device for broadband users. The DX-7014BR router enables multiple users on a LAN to easily access the Internet while providing a user-friendly web browser based management interface for swift and smooth installation.
With 1# 10 Mbps WAN port for connecting XDSL/Cable modem and 4# 10/100 Ethernet switch ports, the LAN users attached to DX-7014BR can unleash the power of broadband Internet connection and yet offer cost effective solution as compared to today's expensive leased line solutions.
The DX-7014BR can act as a DHCP server for devices on local LAN providing dynamic IP address to PCs and other devices in the LAN upon request. Featured with a multi segment LAN and NAT support all users in the LAN can access the Internet using only one IP address. However, the Access Control feature of the router can empower the Network administrator to limit Internet and email access by individual workstations
The local IP addresses are hidden from external sources. Powered with Firewall protection DX-7014BR, closely monitors all incoming packets and filters all incoming server requests thus protecting the network from malicious attacks from external sources. The DMZ (Exposed computer) allows exposure of one PC on the local LAN to the Internet. This results in unrestricted two-way communication between this PC and servers or users on the Internet.
On the WAN port, the DX-7014BR can act as a PPP client allowing dynamic IP addresses to be allocated by the ISP. DX-7014BR also supports fixed or static IP addresses.
Advanced features of DX-7014BR include support for virtual server, which allows remote Internet users to access specific service (such as HTTP/FTP) available in the Local server and optional password protection to prevent unauthorized users from modifying the router configuration.
