launched BR600CI-IN, a high performance, value-for-money 600VA
PC UPS aimed at home and SOHO verticals. Sridhar Laxman, Director-
Strategic Marketing, APC said, “We have launched this, specifically
to address the needs of the common man. In India we face innumerable
power-cuts, which pose as a threat to the application we use. We have
incorporated a number of new features in this UPS like 'automatic
voltage regulation' feature, longer backup time etc.”
Sharing details on the
channel schemes Gaurav Burman, Director- Transaction Business, APC
India said, “At APC we believe in rolling out numerous initiatives
to help channel partners make the most of our vast product portfolio
and capitalize on market trends. Lot of thought has gone into the
scheme since we want partners to leverage benefits from it. The
current scheme has an attractive slab-based incentive program that
rewards channel partners based on the number of units they pick up.
The scheme goes like this — If a partner picks up six units of APC
600VA Back —UPS, then he gets a 10-DVD pack as his reward and if he
picks up12 units of APC 600VA Back —UPS, then he gets a 4GB pen
drive.”
Burman further said, “We
have added new features like '7.5AH battery' for better backup time,
three 'battery backup and surge protected' outlets to run
multiple devices, fastest battery recharge time of 8-10 hrs and a
two-years warranty, covering both electronics and battery. This is
the only UPS in the market with thermal runaway prevention which
prevents unsafe temperatures leading to fire.”
Sharing further details on
various initiatives, Burman said, “We are currently running a
scheme, where the partner has to match numbers in August and
September. We are creating awareness amongst partners so that they
are aware, as to why are we priced a little higher. We are creating
higher penetration in UP, Punjab, Hyderabad and reaching about 300
cities every month.”
Talking about services,
Laxman said, “All our authorized service providers have spare parts
in their inventor. In case of a problem, a customer has to call the
toll-free number and our call center will take care of the rest.
Depending on the location, the service time will differ but we are
keeping a TAT of four hours to three business days. Our goal is to
have 250 locations covered by the end of 2011.”
APC also did a roadshow
recently and addressed 3000 partners. “Our focus is to ensure
profitability. We are constantly pushing our distributors to add more
channel partners. We want to cross 7000 partners this year. We have
also created an online partner portal, wherein a prospective partner
can get all the information he requires,” Burman concluded.
