American Power Conversion (APC) has announced the extension of its Smart-UPS
RT family of rack/tower convertible, double conversion online UPS, with the
launch of four new units in the 3, 5,7.5 and 10 KVA range.
Pankaj Sha-rma, Country Manager-India, APC said, "The new pro-ducts
will addr-ess the power protection req-uirements for critical business equipment
and will be targeted at verticals like banking and financial servi-ces, SMEs,
Government sector and non-IT industrial manufacturing segments."
Currently, APC garners a 35 percent share of the market and hopes to increase
its inroads into the India market by targeting key verticals. Sharma added,
"Given the challenging power conditions in the country, we are confident
that these units will help meet the need for increased uptime of the banking,
SME and government applications."
The new products are equipped with features like faster recharge time,
scalable run time, zero transfer time to and from batteries, wide input voltage
range, automatic internal bypass, hot swappable batteries, cold start capability
and rack/tower convertibility.
The Smart-UPS 3 and 5 KVA RT produ-cts incorporate PowerChute Business
edi-tion software and can be managed using optional smart-slot accessory cards.
The Sm-art-UPS RT 7.5 and 10 KVA have an embed-ded Wed/SNMP management card.
Sharma said that APC's manufacturing plant in Bangalore exported UPS units
worth $125 million to 30 countries around the world. The company will also start
manufacturing the new Smart-UPS products shortly. The company clocked global
revenues in the region of $1.46 billion in 2003.
