IT exports from Andhra Pradesh are expecting to touch Rs 13,000 crore for the
financial year 2005-06 and the state aims at contributing 30 percent of the
Indian IT exports by 2009. IT exports from Andhra Pradesh clocked an impressive
growth of 64.5 percent for fiscal '05 record-ing Rs 8,720 crore to that of 37
percent during 2003-04.
Informing about the increasing growth, JC Mohanty Principal Secretary to the
state department of IT and communication said, "Though we are presently in
the fifth position, we are surging ahead to take the second position next to
Bangalore. Exports from hardware are just around Rs 40 crore this year; we
foresee that hardware exports will contribute significantly well in the
future."
The state has also attracted registrations of 152 new companies during
2004-05, as against 119 new companies last year. Also the technology software
exports contributed 43 percent to the states' total IT exports while ITES/BPO
contributed 36 percent in fiscal 2005.
Some of the major comp-anies that started operations in Hyderabad in 2004-05
include Google Online, IBM Global, Mindtree Consulting, iSoft, NetDevices,
Manugistics Software, Xiotech India, Mars Telecom, etc. Exports to USA from
Andhra Pradesh during fiscal '05 stood at 64 percent, 25 percent to Europe and
11 percent to other countries including Japan, Australia, Asia, Middle East,
etc.
