AOC India has claimed to have made a significant dent in the share of LG, Samsung, Acer, and other Korean brands by selling 7,000 standalone monitors of 18.5 inch and 15.6 inch in the month of August, 2012 in the Delhi region only. With this remarkable growth, the company has gained 28% marketshare in Delhi for the first time.
As per IDC reports, the non bundle/DIY market shipments for Q2, 2012 (April to June) stood at 10 lakh units. AOC again is the #1 brand in India DIY monitor market, with an all time high of 23.5% marketshare. AOC's volume for Q2, 2012 was 2.3 lakh units. In a market that has grown by 4.5%, AOC also scored 12.1% growth. Individually in Delhi market the unit sales have grown more than 40% from last year sales.
While highlighting the key factors behind this achievement, Saurabh Grover, director AOC monitor business India said, "In Delhi, AOC had never registered this growth, this market is primarily driven by Korean brands of monitors. But our recent channel engagements has proven fruitful, since last 1 year. We had only one regional distributor-Park Network, but this year, we appointed Elcom Trading as our second regional distributor for Delhi, post this addition our numbers have grown beyond 5,000 per month. Having said that, we will continue to maintain this 7,000 numbers in Delhi."
Besides Delhi, if we consider the whole northern region, AOC sells around 15,000 monitors per month, where 7,000 units are sold in Delhi, but overall its sells 75,000 units of monitors in a month, of which 60,000 units sells through channel and the remaining pie is sold directly to corporate customers by AOC sales team. Some of its key customers are Kaltron, Tata Motors, Spanco, Dainik Jagran, UIDI, and many others.
Like Delhi, Kerala is another focused market for AOC, and it is planning to ramp up the numbers. Moreover, it has appointed Aldous Glare as its first regional distributor for Kerala market in addition to its existing national distributor Compuage. The company sold 4,000 monitors during the Onam festival, and is hoping to sell 5,000 units by end of this year.
Other factors which gave a push to brand AOC were its various schemes for channel partners during the year. This Q2 the company had launched a scheme for tier-3 partners, which helped them in achieving the increased numbers as well as the partner base. AOC distributors-Park and Elcom have contributed generously to this accomplishment. "We have added 50 dealers to our portfolio and increase our channel base in Delhi from 200 to 250. Besides our two regional distributors, we have 13 sub-distributors and 250 IT dealers," Grover added.
Also, the company had concluded its quarterly scheme and took top 80 channel partners to a Thailand trip.
