Thefts, breaking through the shops, shoplifting or robbing is not new for
Nehru Place. One more similar case happened last week end. This brutal truth
came in light on the busy morning of the following Monday.

This incident took place in a small shop belonging to Mallishen Computronix--dealing
in cable connecters, LAN and networking products and other such peripherals--on
the first floor of the Meghdoot building. The FIR is still being filed and
reaction from the police authorities is as per the ritual, not too responsive.
The total booty for the thieves amounts to Rs 1.26 lakh.

The feat of the thieves was so smooth that no one could detect their presence
until the shop was opened. Though two guards, which were being commissioned by
the estate manager of the building, usually stand next to the shop, nobody heard
or saw anything.

As per the police, the area is badly lit and it is completely empty and such
a theft cannot be ruled out. As per Gosain, Estate Manager, Meghdoot Building,
"Well I am even not too sure if this theft is genuine or fake. How a person
breaks through such small area and takes away things? I have nothing to say
much, you should contact the appropriate authorities or the shopkeeper. We have
nothing to do with such an incidence."

The stolen material includes CDRs, modems, NICs, FDDs, hubs etc. Such steals
are common in the area, but what remains to be seen is whether they will be
written off as mere thefts, or will they be dealt with much required
seriousness.
