In a novel
initiative, AMD has kicked off a channel training program recen-tly, which will
be done through video conferencing. AMD Advantage Seminar is a biannual training
program from the company and channels are enlightened with AMD's latest
offering (products), technology det-ails, advancements and roadmap in this
program. “We are doing this for the last two years. This is the first time we
are trying to connect the channel partners through video. Initially, the fourth
edition of our training was planned only for 18 cities with face-to-face
meetings. But, we tried video conferencing and the pilot project was well
received among the channels. Now we are connecting 22 cities through video
conferencing, in addition to the 18-city face-to-face meetings,” said Haresh
Bharia, National Distribution Manager, AMD Far East Ltd (India).
The company has carried out
the pilot study in Jan connecting Pondicherry and Noida through video
confe-rencing. It is understood that more than 30 channel partners participated
in the program. “Channels were enthusiastic and encouraging for this new
concept. We are sure that video conferencing would help us to reach more
cities/towns and cover more channel partners across the country,” he said.
“Our |
AMD Advantage Seminar aims to
educate and upgrade the channels on technology skills and knowledge. “As a
technology leader, we keep innovating and developing new platforms/products. We
want our channel partners to be well informed about AMD and its latest offerings
in the market. Better knowledge will provide an edge to the resellers while
selling in the competitive market,” poin-ted out Bharia. He also said, AMD is
doing well across the product lines and Opteron and Turion are creating enough
pull in the market.
AMD has more than 2,000 channels in over 125 cities across
the country regis-tered with it for the prog-rams. “Our channel engage-ment is
growing every day and resellers are quite matured here (in India). AMD's AAA
channel prog-ram is a big hit in the market and we have continuous programs with
the channels. In the first week of March, AMD is taking over 125 resellers to
South Africa, as part of its reward program called HighFliers,” detailed
Bharia.
