In a move to expand its reach and increase market share, processor supplier AMD is all set to announce its new distributor mainly for the Indian market. "It is very much true that we are going to appoint one more distributor. However, we would not be able to disclose the company name right now. The official announcement from AMD is expected only by June end," said a senior official of AMD, India.

Meanwhile, market is abuzz with the news that Tech Pacific is the most likely name for becoming the AMD distributor. AMD already has three distribution partners worldwide such as Avnet Max, BBS Electronics and Intraco Technology.

The company is looking at increasing the market share in India from the present 20 percent to 40 percent in the next one year.

"We are very confident about it and AMD is getting good response from all quarters. Today, all the PC manufacturers have acknowledged our product and this stands proof for the acceptance. Both MNC and national brands are building their PCs based on AMD processors," he claimed.

To increase the market share in India, AMD would be concentrating on all B and C class towns, apart from major cities.
