A two and a half year old Chennai based company Altosys Software Technologies Ltd (formerly Interactive 1 Softcom Solutions Ltd) has been appointed as the exclusive reseller of FSM Labs (Socorro, USA) to launch their operating software - RealTime Linux (RT Linux) in India. The company has also entered into yet another tie-up where it would be distributing Turbo Linux range of products in India.
Speaking to the media persons, Dr Victor Yodaiken, Founder of RealTime Linux said that RT Linux, a POSIX PS51 compatible hard real-time operating system, has been designed to support applications that have real, serious and non-negotiable deadlines. "Many Real Time Operating Systems are small and simple, whereas Linux has powerful feature with strong networking technology which gives it high level performance. Microsoft requires a lot of configuration, which makes it expensive whereas Linux is easily configurable. Microsoft with its high sales has not been able to push Linux behind. People get Linux free, but it's not free though it costs less. And this is where Microsoft has been trying to pinpoint us."
Turbo Linux is targeted at high-end server needs. Some of the product features include - high scalability for user's high-end needs, support for secure systems, interacts with other operating systems, best match with PostqreSQL as an open source RDBMS, Turbo Tools configuration tools and Mongoose powerful but user friendly installer.
"Altosys Software Technologies Ltd, part of the Obul Reddy Group of company would be appointing 15 partners through out India to market RealTime Linux and Turbo Linux," said N Srinivasan, President, Altosys.
