Altair releases new PBS Professional version

Altair has released PBS Professional Version 7.0, which now supports Job
Arrays, a mechanism for grouping related work, allowing the user to submit,
query, modify and display a set of jobs as a single unit. According to the
company, this new feature is particularly useful for users who submit and manage
very large numbers of related jobs especially in the compute intense fields of
Oil & Gas, EDA (Electronic Des-ign Automation), Animation, Life
Sciences/Bio-informatics and Fin-ancial Engineering.

PBS Professional Vers-ion 7.0 provides a higher level of integration with
select MPI libraries, which result in improved resil-iency under a variety of
system failure modes. PBS Professional is a grid com-puting tool, which helps
Altair's customers opti-mize the utilization of enterprise computing en-vironments
by intelligen-tly aggregating and scheduling computat-ional resources.

According to the comp-any, it is extensively used in the compute intense
environments encoun-tered within oil/gas, EDA, animation/media, life scie-nces,
scientific computing and research, financial en-gineering, manufacturing and
education markets.
