Meeting to be held in Kanpur on Jan 11

As the channel community is looking forward to a bright year
ahead, the All-UP Channel Association is gearing up to elect its executive body
including the President. Close to 30 channel members of the association are
meeting on January 11 in Kanpur to decide on various aspects of running the
association.

"We are meeting in Kanpur and all the members of the
association have already been informed about this meet. Recently we have added
two more cities–Moradabad and Agra–under the canvas of the association. So
we have 11 cities with us now. As UP is the biggest state of the country, our
aim is to have around 15 cities with us and I am sure that soon we will have the
support of 15 cities within the state," informed Manish Mehrotra, MD of
Allahabad-based Tritech Enterprises, and the prime mover behind the formation of
this association.

The idea to form a state-wide association within UP was coined
by some of the prominent resellers of the region in the month of June 2003 but
ironically, the association has not been able to select its office bearers till
today. Though there have been at least three rounds of meetings to decide about
the coveted post of President, at different places including Lucknow.

"The primary objective of this association is to safeguard
the interests of the reseller community and if we are associated with a
statewide association then vendors take us seriously and our problems get
solved," he pointed out.

As the UP channel community meets in Kanpur–deciding on the
post of the President is going to be a tough job. However, some of the prominent
names within the UP region like Rohit Kohli of Kanpur-based Comexcell
Technologies, Gurmeet Singh Saluja of Lucknow-based Computer City and Mehrotra
himself are likely to be taken quite seriously.

It may be recalled that sometime back there was a lack of
communication between the members of the association due to some
misunderstanding caused by the handling charges issue. "Yes there was some
misunderstanding between the members but now things are quite fine and we are
working towards creating a good atmosphere for the channel business to achieve
greater heights in the near future," added Mehrotra.
