To facilitate access to information to rural Madhya Pradesh (MP) as part of
the state’s e-Governance plans, it is proposed that the Gyandoot project be
implemented in all the districts of the state from the current 14 districts
where it is on now. This will allow people living in far off and remote areas of
MP to access information on government notices, government services and
government schemes and also allow them to lodge complaints online and get their
problems resolved in a much quicker time-frame.

Attempts are being made by the government to give wider scope and user-base
to the Gyandoot project which was begun by Dr Rajesh Rajora, the then Collector
of Dhar district as part of the government’s e-Governance drive in the state.

Till now, only services like maps of Khasra-Khatoni books, loans and grants,
Mandi rates, lodging and resolving complaints and information on social security
etc were available on Gyandoot, but now emphasis is on increasing the scope and
accessibility of the project beyond the 14 current districts of the state.

In all the 14 districts where this project is being implemented, the
information kiosks, or Soochnalayas are being run at government expense, but
Bhopal district is the only district in the entire state where the private
sector has been roped in.

Alankar Malviya of the District Women and Child Welfare Department and also
the Nodal Officer for Gyandoot in the district, said that the private sector has
been allowed to participate in the implementation of this project in the
district in a significant way and that the contract has been awarded to them to
develop this project at their own expense.

He added that in an effort to bring about greater transparency and efficiency
in the project’s implementation and usage, very soon death and birth
certificates and ‘Mool Niwas Praman Patra’ will also be made available via
Gyandoot.
