Aldous Glare Trade and Exports bets on telecom

Declining IT business has hit many dealers, some left the business or some has consolidated. For kochi-based distributor Aldous Glare Trade and Exports the business has decreased in the last three years. The revenue figures say that there has been a slump in their business y-o-y.

In FY12, 13 and 14 the revenues were Rs 245, 210, 150 crore respectively. According to the company, "The IT business is declining and hence we have stopped distributing certain IT products."

According to the reports, the company is aggressively re-positioning itself as the national distributing company. It has decided to step away from sub-distribution outside Kerala, and has re-positioned as a company in tier-1 distributor across the country. The company is consolidation mode.

Also, the company has ventured into telecom distribution. Owing to different business dynamics the company has recruited different executives for a sell-out on the streets. It's entry into the telecom segment has also brought a lot of opportunities and have capitalized on its existing network of re-sellers, and converted them to telecom resellers.

Reports also suggest that it was Telecom segment that has actually contributed Rs 100 crore topline in FY 14. However, it is a wait and watch situation in the days to come.
