Increase in
expenses has made All Kerala IT Dealers Association (
href="https://www.dqweek.com/long-held-impasse-between-akitda-and-intel-gets-resolved">AKITDA)
to
rethink on its service charge on all IT services. According to
sources, change in service charges on all IT products from annual
maintenance contracts to installations of hardware, networking, UPS,
printers and software support would increase around 15-20%. Currently
the service price is low compared to harsh economic realities. On
this account, Toshy Mathew, president, AKITDA-Ernakulum district
said, “Due to increased fuel costs and other expenses, it is high
time that we should change the same old service charges. The exact
date is not finalized yet for the implementation, we would decide
about it in the forthcoming meetings.”
Dealers all
across Kerala are demanding for changes in service price in order to
get a decent
margin. While talking about the increase in service charge, Jyoti
Shankar, state secretary, AKIDTA said, “Actually the expenses have
increased and every dealer is asking for a change in service charge
of minimum Rs 350 within 20 km radius depending on the volume and
type of work.” Apart from the service charge, the cost of the
products will also increase owing to rupee depreciation- major
vendors intend to increase the cost of IT products.
