AirTel Tango is now available on Magic. With this the pre-paid customers of
Bharti Cellular Ltd can have access to AirTel Tango,a personalised Internet
mobile service that brings information, communication, entertainment and
m-commerce on the move.
This latest initiative from AirTel close on the heels of the recent tariff
rationalization on Tango is seen to be a major initiative by the service
provider to further increase the penetration of mobile Internet in the country.
Tango on Magic is available at a nominal airtime charge of Rs 1.25 per 30 sec
with no monthly subscription. All that a Magic customer has to do is purchase
the Tango with IT kit–containing the Tango ID–which is available for a
one-time activation charge of Rs 250 and access information on news, stocks,
forex markets and sports. In addition one can send and receive emails, update
contacts in the personal directory, mark calendars, prepare a to-do list and
bookmark one's favorite WAP sites.
According to Atul Jhamb, VP (Marketing), Bharti Cellular Ltd, “Tango on
Magic, while is an enhancement of the value proposition on Magic, it is also a
conscious effort to reach out to a wider target audience and let them experience
the convenience offered by Tango. Our research indicated a felt need among our
pre-paid customers to access real time information on the move and this
initiative is in response to their needs.”
Tango, the WAP service from AirTel is a completely integrated end-to-end
solution with firewalls incorporated to ensure security of applications and
services. AirTel has integrated into its WAP-based network architecture the
Phone.com Gateway platform which is a mature carrier-grade system that is tried,
tested and proven with millions of subscribers on 60 different networks
worldwide
With the added convenience of the WoW (waiter on wheels) service, Magic cards
also come with home delivery option. Based on the IN platform, Magic provides
the facility of recharging by a mere input of a 16-digit number into one’s
cellphone.
Magic has recently introduced the balance on demand and balance on screen
facility, which shows the balance automatically after every call or SMS and it
also reminds the customer of low balance and the validity of the card.
