Adaptec introduces New Ultra320 SCSI controllers

Adaptec, Inc, the global leader in data storage access solutions, has extended its RAID and SCSI leadership with a new family of Ultra320 SCSI controllers that couple the industry's fastest data transfer rates with robust integrated RAID for data protection.

"Adaptec's Ultra320 SCSI controllers deliver the performance needed for bandwidth-hungry applications such as mainline storage, video editing and streaming video and audio while integrating RAID so IT managers can protect all their workstation

and server data," said HK Tan, Marketing Manager (Asia-Pacific), Adaptec. 

"With the introduction of these 320 megabyte-per-second products featuring Adaptec's HostRAID integrated RAID, Adaptec now offers a family of embedded, PCI and external RAID products that provide customers with a full range of price/performance data protection options for everything from workstations and entry-level servers to Storage Area Networks (SANs)," he said.

The heart of the four Ultra320 SCSI controllers is a new Adaptec chip that delivers the industry's fastest data transfer rates. In recent performance tests, one of the controllers outpaced its nearest competitor by up to 65 percent, delivering 546 megabytes per second of throughput over two channels.

Adaptec offers the only Ultra320 SCSI controller family to feature RAID striping, mirroring and hot spare support to bolster data protection and maximize system performance and uptime.
