Computer
Merchants Association (ACMA) is planning to hold its
elections on June 15, 2011. It is a practice that the association
follows after every 2 years. “Being the president for the past 2
years, I have given my best towards contributing for the association.
This year also, members will select an appropriate president for its
betterment,” said, Kirti Thakkar, president, ACMA.
The
criterion
for the position of president is very important to members. The
association does not believe in age of an individual because
according to them experience in the IT field is what matters the
most. While discussing about the age criteria for the association
members, Thakkar commented,“Surprisingly, we have received a large
number of nominations this year for the formation of the new
executive committee. Every year we urge people to participate in the
elections, but they seem to be shy or not confident enough to take up
the responsibility of the association. In total, 11 members will be
selected from voting and they will decide in the next 15 days for the
further post appointments. It is good to know that there is a lot of
enthusiasm among people,”added Thakkar.
Thakkar also
added that they are keen to involve young people in their association
but at the same time experience does matter when it comes to hold the
position in the executive board. “Generally experienced people are
given more priority,” said Thakkar.
The deciding
factors for selection of members:
- Candidate
should have minimum 2 years experience in their business domain
- Candidate
should be a member of the association for 3 years consecutively
Talking
about
his experience as the president of ACMA for the past 2 years, Thakkar
explained, “It has been an excellent journey as the president of
ACMA. Though I have been associated with ACMA for the past 10 years,
I have never regretted involving myself in the committee. We should
also give other people a chance to show their skills, it is time for
me to look at the broader aspect.”
