The Ahmedabad Computer Merchants Association (ACMA) recently organized a power dinner at the Courtyard by Marriott, to announce the ACMA ICT SHOW, 2013. On the evening, Ravi Saxena, additional chief secretary, DST - government of Gujarat, was felicitated for his outstanding contribution towards the growth of ICT industry in the state.
The dinner was attended by more than 125 IT dealers and vendors. Saxena was honored as a guiding visionary towards the growth of ICT industry in Gujarat. He was felicitated by members of Gujarat IT Association including Narendra Bhetaria (president, ACMA), Kaushik Pandya (past president, FITAG), Jaimin Shah (Imm. past president, GESIA) and Sanjay Parikh (secretary, CIO club of Gujarat) with a memento.
Sharing his experience, Saxena said, "IT, communication and electronic industry can together contribute to the growth of our nation and that He will be resolute towards forming systems and frameworks resulting in instinctive resolution of persistent issues". He also offered to provide his knowledge and continuous guidance to the IT industry to take it to the next level.
On this occasion, Narendra Bhetaria, president, ACMA said, "Shri Ravi Saxena is passionate about harnessing the power of Information Technology and has been pursuing use of IT in governance, right from the beginning of his career. He is a champion of Digital Empowerment."
Saxena has many firsts to his credit in the area of eGovernance. He devised a unique collaborative policy structure for IT roadmap for all the departments of the government for development of ERP type applications with GIS basis. He also initiated a unique experiment of integrating GIS applications with other IT applications to have accurate planning of civil infrastructure. He has also been relentlessly campaigning for consolidation of government IT infrastructure for the entire country which should result in a Unified Government Cloud Structure.
He has made significant contributions to the development of the Industrial and Economic infrastructure of Gujarat State. He was pioneer in developing a port based model of Industrial Development. He structured and developed some of the most popular investment regions for chemical and petrochemical industries in Gujarat in the form of Jhagadia, Dahej, Lodhika and Vilayat industrial estates. Furthermore, he laid the foundations of the framework for the Public Private Partnership in economic infrastructure in the State of Gujarat.
