The Ahmedabad Computer Merchants Association (ACMA) organised its annual IT
show 2004 on Sep 17, 2004. Narendra Modi, Gujarat, CM inaugurated the event. The
state government announced the 'e-gramin' project wherein 18,000 villages
are to be interconnected.
The key highlight of the event was its Wi-Fi zone enabled by Rashi
Peri-pherals using Compex solutions. "We converted all exhibition area and
stalls into Wi-Fi zone where participants can access Internet through wireless
and visitors could also walk around with Wi-Fi notebooks and can get access to
Internet," said Sanjay Agarwal, Business Manager-Compex, Rashi Peripherals.
The event received a healthy participation and all its 129 stalls, priced at
Rs 11,000 each, were booked. According to Sanjay Tayal of Emerald Infocom, the
event attracted 1.5 lakh visitors. Pace Computers got 5,000 visitors to its
stall during the two and half day event and sold six laptops.
