Allied Computer International (Asia) Ltd (ACi Asia) has launched a notebook
AMC plan with an insurance cover called "PC Protect Plan" (PPP).
According to the company, this has been done to address the main issues in the
growth of the notebook market in India like high cost of service, ambiguity in
warranties and lack of after sales service infrastructure of most companies
selling note-books in India.
PPP is a comprehensive warranty extension coupled with insurance and will be
offered on all ACi notebooks and any brand of notebook up to five years old.
According to the company, PPP provides full comprehensive cover against both
normal and accidental breakdown together with loss and / or theft protecting
users from high service costs nor-mally associated with note-book computers. It
is specially designed for mobile computer equipment, covering all types of
failures whether it is caused by wear or tear or any other causes.
Users are assured diagno-stic analysis within 48 hours, repairs within seven
days and insurance claims are settled within 21 days. To order a PPP, notebook
users will have to get their notebook inspected and certified to be in working
condition by an authorized ACi engineer. Every notebook sold by ACi Asia will
come with a free PPP.
Speaking about this offer-ing to the notebook user segment, ACi Asia Chief
Marketing Officer Gautam Ghosh said, "Our aim of launching "PC Protect
Plan" was to remove the fear of after sales service from the minds of the
notebook users in India. We at ACi Asia believe that the only way to grow the
notebook com-puter market in India is to offer AMC services at rea-sonable
prices and remove the ambiguity from warranties offered by large MNC players.
The insurance cover going with the sch-eme will cover the com-ponents of the
notebook, which the warranty will not cover."
