Acer unveils three Windows 8 devices in India

Acer, during the last couple of years have tied up with many design houses to bring about compelling form factor

The Taiwanese electronics major Acer has introduced three new Windows 8-based computing devices-Acer Iconia W3 tablet, Aspire P3 Ultrabook and Aspire R7 Notebook in the Indian market. These PC devices are available at an introductory offer for Rs 27,999, Rs 49,999 and Rs 69,999 respectively.

Powered with Windows 8, the company said that they have leveraged best touch design for ultimate consumer experience. Acer also aims to increase its touch screen portfolio to 80% by 2015. The company is also expected to unveil E-series by next quarter.

Harish Kohli, MD, Acer India said that they were leveraging change behavior amongst consumers in the new devices pattern. "Acer has always been a frontrunner in setting up industry benchmarks and today we become the first PC player to launch full-feature products," he said.

S Rajendran, chief marketing officer at Acer India said that there have been changing usage habits in today's computing landscape. "Users need a device that adapts perfectly to their rapidly switching lifestyles," he said. Rajendran also said that they have grown their R&D and design teams.

Over the last couple of years, the company has tied up with many design houses to bring about compelling form factor. It has 26 design patents for Aspire R7, before it had finally come out with one of them. It features 15.6-inch full HD touch screen display.

Charapani Gollapali, GM, Microsoft India consumers channel group said that with few devices, megatrends touch is becoming ubiquitous. The applications actually come alive on touch devices, he asserted. Gollapali also said that they have enabled more than 1,000 devices with Windows 8 since its launch, a year ago.
