Accton Skype Wi-Fi phone to start shipment next month

Niklas Zennstrom, CEO, Skype, who visited Taiwan recently
indicated that Skype might look for further cooperation with Taiwan OEM/ODM
partners. Zennstrom came to learn the progress of Skype Wi-Fi phone and Accton
was mentio­ned as new Skype partner in the wireless field. When the information
was revealed, the stock price of Accton started to roar with stock price of
NT$19.1. Last November, Accton launched the first Skype Wi-Fi phone in Tokyo
Japan and started the cooperation with Skype. After six months, Accton Skype
Wi-Fi phone acquired orders from Japan channels. The first shipment will be
delivered next month. Except for ODM for Japanese channels, Accton also promotes
its brand as SMC.
