Accton introduces Gigabit Ethernet card

Accton Technologies Corporation - a well known networking company, has launched their Cheetah Gigabit Ethernet card in India.

A company statement issued here mentions that the cards are targeted at specific segments viz. R&D labs, graphics and multimedia designers, ISPs, etc. that are high bandwidth users.

"Accton has recently become number one in Ethernet cards in the Indian market. The launch of the Gigabit products is expected to further strengthen our market share," says Sanjay Kamat, AGM Marketing, Accton India.

The Cheetah card (technical name EN1408-T) is a high performance 32 bit card that fits on PCI slots. The product's advanced features such as VLAN tagging, eight levels of priority to deliver desired quality of service, priority queuing, full duplex control flow that ensures maximum data integrity even under heavy loading, and jumbo frames capability to boost throughput by up to 300 percent. The Cheetah card is compatible with Windows 2000, 98, 95, NT and ME along with Netware and Linux.

Says Milind Kamat, country manager, Accton India, "While Gigabit cards have been available from some time, their high price has restricted their usage to servers alone. But Accton is poised to break the price barrier and make gigabit Ethernet affordable to the common user".
