ABITA hold's its first IT expo

Ankleshwar and Bharuch Information Technology Association (ABITA) held its
first ever annual IT exhibition on December 27-29. Interestingly, the
association had planned a unique inauguration of the expo. "We have invited
and got a verbal confirmation from Narendra Modi, Chief Minister, Gujarat. The
uniqueness would be that he would not be physically present but thro-ugh video
conferencing equipment from his residence inaugurate the function,"
revealed Manish Shroff, President, ABITA.

The main sponsors of the event include Intel, Canon and ISP GNFC online
(Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company). The organizers of the event have
invited channel partners from the neighboring region also like Jagalia, Panoli,
Dahej and Vagra.

ABITA will be incurring an expenditure of Rs 6 to 7 lakh but is not expecting
any profit, as this is its first expo. "This is the first time we are
holding an expo, therefore, a lot of promotional expenditure has to be incurred
in the form of advertising in end user and trade magazines," pointed out
Shroff.

ABITA is also expecting a crowd of over one lakh during the three day period,
which will include both end-users and corporates. The Bharuch IT forum is
involved in the expo, therefore, there would a lot of participation from the
SOHO segment and corporates also.

Totally, there are 55 stalls from dealers across Ankleshwar and Bharuch. The
products on display would vary from wireless, blue tooth, infrared, high end
networking equipments, PCs, servers, printers etc.

The ABITA members actively involved in the expo activities include Harish
Joshi (Chairman), Paras Patel (Secretary), Kalpesh Balwadi, Mayank Mehta, Palkin
Zamindar, Irshad Gaud, Naem Surajwalla and Vikant Dave.
