finalizing the
sponsors. The association, instead of taking sponsorships from the
OEMs and vendors, resorted to the finance of the channel community,
with Eastern Group becoming the primary sponsor for the event. “We
wanted to focus on the channel community for maximum sponsorships
keeping the OEMs and vendors aloof from the slot. This time, the
channel partners have at last understood the importance of the event,
and we have received an overwhelming response from the channels in
matters of sponsorship,” said Alok Garodia, President, Compass.

The
association has estimated that the four-day event will have a

Also,
keen on focusing on the business customers, the association has
designed the visiting hours as Business Hours starting from 10.30am
to 2.00pm besides its regular slot of 2.00pm to 8.00pm for general
visitors. “In terms of business, East India has grown by 20 percent
in FY 2008-09 with PC sales boosting up at 14.93 lakh units compared
to 12.48 lakh units in FY 2007-08. Till December 2009, 57 lakh units
had been transacted. It is a clear indicator that eastern market is
growing at a fast pace and this is where we are targeting to have a
breakthrough,” Garodia added.

hefty business transactions expected to take place on all the four
days, Compass is targeting to convert at least 40 percent of the
sales leads.

“In the past we have noticed that about Rs 100 crore business
interests are generated in the expo where about 40 percent gets
converted into real deals. This time also, we expect a similar
business transaction to take place,” said B Hari, Member, Executive

holding the expo in the city after a stalemate of one year, Compass
has sounded keen on expanding its footprint across the East. The
association has already received support from other eastern
associations, namely, BITA, ITAO, ITDAS, NECTA, JCWA, CAD and JITA.
Now, Compass may hold expos on similar lines in other eastern cities
in the future.

“We are keen on holding expos in the eastern India market on
similar lines as of the Compass expo. Talks are on with the local
associations and we expect a positive response for going ahead with
our local expo plans,” Hari concluded. The Compass Award night will
