Vidur & Co bags DQ Week Best Reseller award

Madhur Madav (L) of Vidhur & Co, Getting the Best Reseller award from Pradeep GuptaVidur & Company Pvt Ltd has bagged the Best Reseller Award for the year 2000-01. Instituted by the DQ Week Delhi, the award was given away in a glittering ceremony held at the capital's Hotel Park Royal today. The DQ Week Reseller Award night--presented by Samsung Electronics India Information & Telecommunication Ltd--was held in connection with the survey of the `Top 50 Resellers' of Delhi brought out by the DQ Week. Incidentally, the occasion also marked the successful completion of 200 weeks of the DQ Week Delhi.

Rajesh Aggarwal (R) of Micromax Technologies getting the Runner Up award (reseller) from Vivek PrakashMicromax Technologies Pvt Ltd was adjudged the runner up in the reseller category. It had won the same award last year also. Multiple Zones India Pvt Ltd was given the award for being the best System Integrator. Team Computers Pvt Ltd was awarded for being the runner up amongst the System Integrator category. Integral Shoppe bagged the award for being the Best Retailer.

In another first this year, the DQ Week Delhi instituted awards for best resellers of 11 other cities of the north. The award winners were--Tritech Enterprises from Allahabad, KBC Enterprises from Amritsar, Microworld from Bhopal, Super Tech Computers from Chandigarh, Worth Technology from Indore, Bits & Bytes from Jaipur, Computer Touch from Jalandhar, Comexcell Technologies from Kanpur, Lucknow Computer Shack from Lucknow, Prime Syscom from Ludhiana, and Varanasi Computers from

Varanasi.

Atul Kapoor (R) of Multiple Zones, receiving the Best System Integrator award from SP RajguruWelcoming the distinguished gathering, Prasanto K Roy, Group Editor, the DQ Week, explained about the concept and the methodology behind these annual awards. He explained the importance of channels in furthering the distribution of products to the end user and hence the importance of awards as an encouragement to that segment.

Vivek Prakash, GM, Samsung India, spoke about the need for channels to adapt to change. "If IT is about technology, then channels as an integral part of the IT industry need to keep pace with the changing technology. This also means changing the business paradigms whenever necessary." He illustrated the need for change by talking about the evolution of the cellphone which is fast becoming combined with every digital device like PDAs, handhelds or even wristwatches. "Therefore IT channel vendors have to be very tech-savvy and open to newer ways of doing business." Prakash urged the community to get out of the mentality of restricting their product range to boxes. "The future lies in integrated devices and the community has to embrace that direction sooner or later."

Ranjan Chopra (R) of Team Computers getting the Runner Up award (SI) from Sanjeev KeskarAcknowledging the role of channels in the rapid growth of the IT industry, Asim Raina, Resident Editor, the DQ Week Delhi, said, "The IT channels community was virtually non-existence 10 years back. With the inception of our weekly in 1997, the community has become more organized. Our constant endeavor has been to provide information built around the community." He thanked the channel community for their support. "These awards are a way of acknowledging the role played by this segment of the industry in developing the IT industry."

The parameters on the basis of which the five winners were selected from a list of over 60 resellers included--overall reach of the reseller, service attitude of the reseller, reseller's long term commitment to business, expertize of the reseller in the products which he sells, the financial strength of the reseller, and quantum of business done by him.

Gautam Khandpur (R) of Integral Shoppe receiving the Best Retailer award from Shyam MalhotraBesides Roy and Prakash, the other members of the panel which decided the award winners included SP Rajguru, VP, Ingram Micro India Ltd; and Sanjeev Keskar, Country Manager (India), AMD.

The awards were given away by the panel members and Shyam Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief; and Pradeep Gupta, Publisher, the DQ Week. The award ceremony was attended by more than 450 top resellers of Delhi.

On the occasion, Samsung also put up a stall wherein they displayed a range of new products including new models of monitors, laser printers and multi-function devices.
