The E Commerce price war will subside very soon: Arun Kapoor

The aggressive price war between E Commerce giants in India will subside and generalize very soon as the policy of heavy discounting is not a long term solution for the business expansion, said Arun Kapoor, Founder and CEO of GadgetsGuru.com. Kapoor said that apart from price, the logistic support such as effective after sales services from e-tailors, would become the major E Commerce growth driver in India.

Interacting with the DQ Week on the occasion of the launch of OK Sir, a daily need and emergency service based application, Kapoor said that the supply chain was very significant where the channel play a critical role to fulfill the requirement of stock in the market.

Endorsing his thoughts on the predatory pricing and heavy discounting policies by some of the big e-tail giants, Kapoor said, “Some of the E Commerce giants want to make Indian customers habitual of online shopping and therefore, they are pricing products below the landed cost to capture the market share. Though, technically this is not good, but this is the current scenario. As per our business policy, we ensure that our prices will not land below MOP. We also ensure that we sell only genuine and branded electronics products.”

On the allegations of some of the E Commerce companies evading the taxes, Kapoor said that with a uniformed taxation policy taking shape in the country, it would eliminate the alleged disparities in the online business.
