US-based Sun Microsystems Inc, creators of the Java technology, has announced that it will be establishing a dedicated customer support call center for users of its proprietary Java software, in Bangalore. The company already has an engineering center in the Banglore city, besides competency center, Java solution center and sales offices in India.

"Our customer technical escalation support center, being set up in Bangalore, would fix problems for users of Java software across the globe and over 17 engineers are going to be appointed here soon," said Dale E Ferrario, Director-Product Engineering, Java Software, Sun Microsystems Inc.

Java is not only a programming language but also a platform which facilitates writing programs using component model. "The revolutionary development tool is set to create new standards in Internet-based and enterprise applications through its adoption in devices ranging from smartcards to handheld devices to large servers," Ferrario said.

The company has earlier announced it would be investing $ 9.5 million for increasing its presence in the country, apart from pumping in an investment $ 6 million for its `iForce' initiative in India. The iForce initiative is aimed at providing easier access to Sun technology and services for Internet-based companies.
