Sun Microsystems conducted a one-day seminar on the Sun Open Net Environment or Sun ONE, an open framework identifying the software environment needed to support Web services today and for laying the foundation for smart Web services of tomorrow.

"The seminar will also be held in Bangalore and Delhi. It is intended to evangelize the Sun ONE strategy and architecture," said Aparna Devi Pratap, Consultant, Sun Microsystems India Pvt Ltd. The seminar saw the speakers talking on J2SE, J2ME, XML & JAVA, J2EE. The session which was attended by nearly 900 participants had speakers from US, Singapore and from the Sun Microsystems' technology evangelist team.

The seminar pointed that Web services using XML standards is a new paradigm in the way B2B collaborations are modeled. It provides a conceptual and architectural foundation, which can be implemented using a variety of platforms and products. Today, developers can use the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) to build XML-based web services. They can leverage existing J2EE technologies to build a complete and fully interoperable web service that complies with XML standards. Without radical reengineering, and without rebuilding a proven J2EE system, developers can construct complex and powerful Web services applications.
