SSI partners TN government on IT training

SSI Ltd will partner with Tamil Nadu government for their initiative to take IT education to the youths of backward and the most backward classes.

As a part of this Rs. 5 crore project, SSI will train candidates registering for this program with the Tamil Nadu government, on industry relevant skills. The company's Content Development Group for this program has developed a courseware incorporating both basic and emerging technologies. 

The candidates will be trained in selected SSI centers across 29 districts in Tamil Nadu and the program will focus on empowering the youth of backward and most backward classes to benefit from the opportunities in IT.

"This partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu is a precursor to more such relationships that the company is looking at developing with other state governments in aiding their efforts to reach IT education to the grass roots levels," Menon added.

Gnanadesikan, Chairman and MD, ELCOT, who is coordinating this initiative of the government, said " Our Chief Minister has announced that this project will aim at imparting employment -oriented IT skills to 5000 youth of the backward and most backward classes in the state.

"SSI has a strong presence in Tamil Nadu and has been spearheading skill - based IT education in the country and they have been chosen to bring significant value in terms of content development and program delivery to the table".
