Shiva devotees snatches smiles off IT traders in Uttaranchal

The Kanvar Yatra or Kavad Yatra is annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva, known as Kanvarias, to Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch holy waters of Ganges River. As the Yatra took place during this sacred month of Saawan (July -August), according to the Hindu calendar. But this Kaanvad Yatra had affected IT business in Uttranchal.

During a calendar year approx. 2 Crores Kanwariyas perform this holy journey. This heavy numbers of devotees on roads, local traffic police block and divert some routes for safety purpose of devotees. On the other hand Uttranchal IT market faced problems in delivering orders on time and getting their goods for smooth business activity in state. Most of the trucks loaded with IT hardware stacked in traffic diversions and road blocking by local traffic authorities for the safety purpose of devotees.

Lalan Singh, ex- president UITTA stated, “This year heavy rain fall was being observed which created delay of stock and delivery of orders by approx 25-30 days, which brought dropdown in business for this month. We are hoping the situation will improve by the end of this Month of Saavan and we will be able to carry our business in smooth manner.

Uttranchal IT trader Association will be conducting Blood Donation Camp on August 22. In this camp all members and It partners of Uttranchal will take part in this social cause, informed Gurmeet Singh Juneja, president, UITTA.
