Satyam Infoway announced the launch of www.teawebex.com, an exclusively site for about Indian tea and tea auctions in the country. The portal offers digital catalogues with valuator and the last sold price of tea, news, market reports and other industry related information to buyers, brokers and tea sellers. The portal will be deployed in a phased manner. The Phase I will cover South India to span Cochin, Coimbatore and Coonoor. Phase II will cover North and East India and in the phase III, the portal plans to go global.

"Part of the series of vertical industry marketplace promoted by Satyam Infoway Ltd, Teawebex.com offers a comprehensive information base covering all aspects of tea auctions; auction catalogues, transaction prices and quantities, buyer and seller details and finally culminating in reports and statements for use by brokers, buyers and sellers of tea. Teawebex.com is a powerful information provider and a facilitator of tea auctions in various locations. Initially in South India and subsequently at locations in Eastern and North Eastern India. Teaewbex.com provides practically up to the minute auction information to the entire tea trading community in India, and makes the transaction process simple, efficient and well informed. Our goal is to enable, rather than conduct, tea auctions ourselves," said Ram Mohan, President, B2B eCommerce, Satyam Infoway Ltd.

As part of it's future plans, teawebex.com intends to offer an array of additional modules and application services (ASPs), including supply chain management, direct material purchase and online project modules. It will also offer enhanced value services such as online bidding and online payment using P-Card and online logistic support.

Satyam launches satellite gateway

Satyam also announced the launch of its international satellite gateway in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, in partnership with Singtel. The company is currently setting up seventeen gateways in 13 cities across the country, both in C-band and KU band, most of which will have the capacity of 10 mbps and the ability for further upgradation as and when the need arises.

"Satyam Infoway has partnered with major satellite operators like Singtel, Loral Cyberstar and New Skies for its various gateways. They will provide bandwidth in excess of 150 mbps in the first phase. We are setting up these gateways in all parts of the country so that traffic meant for international locations does not flow in the national long distance links. It also gives us tremendous redundancy and flexibility in how we route traffic," said Rahul Swarup, Chief Technology Officer, Satyam Infoway.
