Samsung announces debut of Galaxy A and E series in India

Keeping an eye on booming smart phone market in India, Samsung India Electronics today introduced four new mid segment smart phones, Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7. Samsung said that these iconic offerings have been designed with keeping in mind the needs and expectations of young generation. Samsung said that Galaxy A and Galaxy E series would demonstrate the strength of the leading smart phone vendor in next Gen technology.

In a grand launch event held in Mumbai, Mr. Ken Kang, Senior Vice President, Mobile and IT, Samsung India said, “We are very excited to launch our new offerings in the Galaxy segment in 2015. Galaxy A and Galaxy E series will redefine the smart phone experience of users. These two products are very important for us as it has opened new possibilities for business in the mid market segment in India.”

Mr. Kang said that India is a very important country for Samsung from business expansion perspective. With increasing penetration of internet and customer’s growing shift from feature phones to smart phones, Samsung predicts lots of prospects in the Indian Smart phone market in the next couple of years.

Mr. Manu Sharma, Director, Mobile, Samsung India said that the new smart phones meet all expectations of India’s next Gen consumers. Galaxy A and Galaxy E series have been built on the three criteria- Style, Technology and User experience. Its metallic body, ultra slim, and display make it perfect choice among youngsters.

Mr. Sharma said that Galaxy A3 and A5 series have been specifically designed for style conscious customers and it comes with all flagship features of an advance smart phone. Whereas Galaxy E5 and E7 smart phones target students and youngsters. Its multimedia experience is packed with all hardware and software capabilities.

Talking about the smart phone market scenario in India, Mr. Sharma said that mid segment is growing at an average of 30 per cent and Samsung hoped to expand its market share in this particular area. He said that the two new offerings would accelerate company’s growth in the market. According to an estimate nearly 50 crore Indian feature phone users are on the verge to switch to smart phones in coming days.

Mr. Kang said that Samsung would continue to focus on technology initiatives to meet growing demands of best smart phone user experience of customers.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 is priced at INR 25,000 while Galaxy A3 is available at INR 20,500. For Galaxy A series, Samsung has tied up with Airtel. The Samsung Galaxy E5 and E7 will be available for sale at market price of INR 23000 and 19,300 respectively. For Galaxy E series, the company has tied up with Vodafone. The new smart phone will be available in the market from 15 January onwards.
