RedHat sets up network for Linux distribution

RedHat India, a company dealing in development, deployment and management of Linux and open source solutions for Internet infrastructure, unveiled its marketing strategy for distribution of its Linux products. In a move to penetrate deep in the Indian enterprise market, RedHat has adopted the traditional channel distribution route for marketing of its products.

As a part of its strategy, RedHat has appointed Sonata Software and Integra Microsystems as its nationwide distributors. In addition, it has built a channel network of 20 resellers and GT Enterprises as their master reseller. The establishment of the entire distribution network will help RedHat target a large base of potential customers in India.

Elaborating on the distribution strategy for India, Ajay Kapoor, Channels Head, RedHat, India said, "We have realized that commercially there is a huge demand for Linux in India and enterprises are adopting Linux for its stability, reliability and multitasking. The key to RedHat Linux success is distribution of its products followed by excellent support and service. The initial set up will ensure smooth distribution of the products and we will back it up with quality support."

RedHat has identified enterprises as one of its key segment for distribution of its products and will concentrate on establishing its market leadership. To further push the usage of Linux, it will be bundling Linux OS with several Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Srikar Reddy, Director and Senior-VP, Sonata said, "Linux acceptability is increasing rapidly and RedHat is a worldwide leader.

Through our tie-up with RedHat India, we will be able to offer our customers the best industry applications that effectively address their business needs. We are confident that Sonata's expertise in managing large distribution network, credible positioning as a high-end IT consulting company and knowledge of the domestic software market will open up more avenues for RedHat to strategically expand their business here."

Added Mahesh Jain, MD, Integra, "We are happy about our tie-up with RedHat India. Our national distribution network coupled with strong expertise in system integration and solution-providing skill will help in the marketing of RedHat Linux products.
