Nortel to builds 'wireless centre' for Infosys

Nortel Networks today announced that it will build a Wireless Centre of Excellence for Infosys. The center, to be located in Bangalore, will provide research, development and testing for Wireless Internet capabilities, giving life to Nortel Networks 'Wings of Light' strategy which combines optical, wireless and IP (Internet Protocol) capabilities to redefine the Wireless Internet.


"Nortel Networks believes the Wireless Internet is about unleashing the power of the Internet for 'anytime, anywhere' personalized access from virtually any device. We're excited to be working with leading-edge companies like Infosys to make it possible to deliver Wireless Internet technologies to carries and their customers," said Clarence Chandran, COO, Nortel Networks. 


"Our relationship with Nortel Networks has been a long and productive one. We are gratified that they have selected Infosys as a strategic ally in the area of wireless. This relationship will position Infosys to expand on its wireless application experience into the area of wireless infrastructure," said NR Narayana Murthy, Chairman and CEO, Infosys.
