NIIT adopts C# as leading technology

NIIT has announced a strategic alliance with Microsoft

Corp, as a part of which, NIIT declared Microsoft C# as the 'Technology of the

Year' and would launch new education programmes for the developer community on

the language.

The courses around C# will enable Indian software

professionals to build user-centric Web services and XML-based applications on

Microsoft's .NET platform. Acquisition of C# skills would enhance the

employability of the professionals. NIIT has developed a brand new curriculum on

C# to offer it across NIIT Centers of Advanced Technology Studies (CATS).

Additionally, NIIT will set up two CoE in India for developing and showcasing

next generation .NET solutions.

Addressing the event Orlando Ayala, Group VP, Microsoft

Corp said, "Today's strategic alliance is an extension of the decade long

relationship Microsoft has shared with NIIT. We are pleased to partner with

India's IT education leader, NIIT, to equip Indian developers with the skills to

develop next generation applications." "NIIT shall deploy its

instructional design and delivery capability through its unique brick&portal

model to offer best of class learning. The software developers will have the

choice of gaining crucial skills in C# either in Class Room or e-Learning mode

through NetVarsity," said Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman, NIIT.

NIIT-Microsoft alliance was unveiled before a gathering

of industry representative including the CEOs, CTOs and software developers.

Pawar also handed over digital manuscript of the first book, .Net Framework,

developed by NIIT and published by Microsoft to Ayala.

Rajiv Kaul, MD, Microsoft (India) said, "What makes

C# so compelling is that it builds on the skills that many programmers and

organizations have already developed, thus enabling improved time to market,

reduced development cost and the ability to keep pace with the rapidly changing

world of Web."

As part of this agreement NIIT would be Microsoft's

first training partner for the .NET framework and C#, and shall offer this

education through 500 of its around 2,228 centers. NIIT's e-Learning portal www.NetVarsity.com

will offer a unique learning experience which value adds the flexibility of

e-Learning with a series of services that are crucial in imbibing a new

technology.
