BOB launches online Bill Management Services

Bank of Baroda has announced the launch of an Online Bill Management (OBM) service in Mumbai that is powered by 'BillDesk', a service of IndiaIdeas.com. BillDesk.com allows households to receive and pay their utility and other similar bills electronically, from a single, secure website and offers the highest level of security and confidentiality. This service of IndiaIdeas, being offered to the bank's customers, is another step taken by the management in the customer driven market. BillDesk is a service bureau that offers universal electronic bill presentment and payment services that will allow the customers to receive, review, pay and organize bills online. Customers can access this service from anywhere, using the Internet and can pay their bills using any of their bank accounts.

Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT) has bagged the 'Excellence Award' instituted by the Institute of Economic Studies (IES), New Delhi. IES was set up by a group of eminent economists, parliamentarians and industrialists who offer patronage and services for various aspects of economics and economic development in India. The IES has also chosen Dr KS Sayan, Principal, MACT, for the gold medal and has also been chosen for 'Vikas Ratan Gold Award' by the International Integration and Growth Society (IIGS) New Delhi, for the year 2001.

The `Vikas Ratan Gold Award' along with a 'Certificate of Excellence' will be conferred on Dr Sayan at the 22nd national conference of 'International Integration through Economic Development' to be held on June 25 at New Delhi.

CM inaugurates helpline

Digvijay Singh, CM, MP, inaugurated the health help line service of the State Health Department in Jabalpur. By dialing 1097, a specialist opinion on health problems can be had free of cost. The helpline can also arrange for free treatment and medicine. It is being run from the Victoria Hospital, Jabalpur, and will cater to all the eight districts in the division. And has been started under the family health awareness campaign.

Prepare to compete with foreign banks

M Venugopal, ED, Union Bank, addressing an audience said Indian banks now have to get ready to compete with foreign banks. This calls for running the banks with better techniques, best utilization of available talents and new IT. The Union Bank is among the few banks, which is using Wide Area Network (WAN) for quick message communication so that the bank can give better facilities to its customers, he added. Venugopal was speaking as the chief guest of the program organized at Deendayal Upadhyaya. Others present on the occasion included SN Singh, DGM, Union Bank, Aalim Hussain, AGM, Union Bank and CMs GY Mishra and A Bhagat. And a number of employees of the bank.

E-governance in MP police by October

MP police is all set to introduce e-governance in all the districts of the state by October this year. The police stations will be networked in the next financial year. The State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB) of the state police initiated this project in March this year on the directives CM, to modernize the state police. By October, all the districts will be networked with the Police Head Quarters (PHQ), along with basic operation software. A modernization cell has been formed in the SCRB, which is functioning round the clock to complete the work in time. An Electronic Data Processing Cell (EDPC) is being developed at the SCRB, which will start functioning from next year. This will function like a police control room round-the-clock.

New computer software for police

Gwalior police and Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM) have agreed to develop computer software to monitor all complaints to expedite inquiry and facilitate dissemination of outcome of inquiries to complainants. The proposed software will also help office staff ascertain linkages amongst various copies of the same complaint/s received from various sources at various points of time. It will also help in keeping a track of complaints and recommendations of various public representatives. The two organizations have also agreed to develop a 'call center facility' for the police control room to keep track of information reaching there. This will help standardize police response to various routine calls made to the police control room.

Detailed information of land records through computer

The computers installed at all tehsil head quarters will start functioning from end of June this year. All the associate data of the district relating to land and maps have been computerized. Stated this at a meeting of District chiefs and Revenue officers. Officials said that preparation for the introduction of computers was in full swing. They were already functional in the district of Narsingpur. In all tehsils, separate computer rooms have been prepared. A copy of the digitized records pertaining to all data and maps will be given to the Gram Panchayat Tehsildar and regional Patwari's. For its publicity, the Collector has issued directives to the CEOs of Panchayats and SDM officers (Revenue)

Chhattisgarh to allow private Universities ;

The cabinet of the government of Chhattisgarh decided to allow private universities to set up shop in the state. The cabinet also decided to open at least one agriculture school in all the 16 districts in the state, besides approving the MoU signed by the state government with Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) and the Monet Steel for their investment in power sector in the state, Ajit Jogi, CM, said. Briefing reporters about the cabinet decision, Jogi said private institutions should be encouraged to introduce quality education, and the Chhattisgarh Private University Establishment and Regulation Ordinance, 2001, is a step in that direction.
