Microsoft, UP Govt sign MoU

Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd today signed a MoU with the Uttar Pradesh Government to jointly develop and deploy technology solutions in the state. The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister, UP, between Pankaj Agarwala, MD, UP Development Systems Corporation (UPDESCO), and Rajiv Nair, President, Microsoft India.

With the signing, UPDESCO will attain the status of a Microsoft Solution Provider for the UP government, consulting, developing and executing systems integration projects on Microsoft technologies. UPDESCO and Microsoft will also set up a center of excellence for e-governance and public policy in

Lucknow.

As part of the agreement, Microsoft shall invest in skills transfer to UPDESCO. As a technology partner, Microsoft will also help computerize all government organizations within the state of UP.

Commenting on the agreement, Nair said, "This MoU is the result of our continuous efforts at awareness building with the UP government on the benefits of IT adoption in the state. We see our role as a technology partner to the UP government's efforts for IT enablement of the state."
