Looking at the opportunities in the Indian market, Lenovo's journey took a new dimension with the launch of its range of 6 android powered smartphones and availability across 3,000 retails outlets .

Lenovo, with its success of smartphones in China market, has become #3 worldwide in smart connected devices ($33.9 mn revenue in FY13), claimed Mike Milko Van Duijl, senior VP, Lenovo group and president (Asia Pacific and Latin America), Lenovo. They will now focus on emerging markets including India for smartphones as part of their global strategy. He added, "Lenovo has reached #2 in China in smartphones and within Top 10 amongst smartphone manufactures by market share in 2012. In Q4 2012, Lenovo smartphones sales grew 600% y-o-y making them #5 worldwide.

While speaking to The DQ Week at the launch of its top smartphone K900, Amar Babu, MD, Lenovo India added that to deliver promise on its brand, it has partnered with 3 strong local partners and a retail footprint of 3,000 stores in India. It's national distributor, Redington will utilize the IT channel footprint apart from Ingram Micro focusing on LFRs. Lenovo will provide service thorough 100 service centers of HCL in addition to Advance Mobiles, their thrird national distributor. Our market share worldwide is 15.5 % and we will now enhance our reach in India and slowly gain market share

Lenovo will be increasing focus on smartphones in India and use the current sales and marketing organization while bringing Sudhin Mathur as country head of smartphones. Sudhin Mathur said, "Lenovo will be working on a push strategy soon for its smart phones and is currently running a 360 degree multimedia campaign running across TV media to create awareness. Lenovo smartphones will be available through the regular telecom channel, IT chnnel, Lenovo exclusive stores and online with its 'DO store' . In the beginning, top 50-60 towns will be the priority and will soon touch 10,000 stores across India.

Partnering with Intel, Lenovo K900, is the first smartphone to leverage the latest Intel Z 2580 processor, a dual core chip to boost performance efficiency. Its flagship product Lenovo K900 is an innovation in technology and this conforms to Lenovo's commitment of growth in 'PC + Evolution', said JD Howard, VP Lenovo.

Along with its top- end performance smartphone K900 debut , Lenovo added the S series, P Series and A series ranging from Rs 8689 upto Rs 33,000. The S series (S820, 920) is the entertainment device, P series (P780) comes with heavy duty battery life, and the A series (A706, 390) is for youthful and the first time smartphone users
