Go Daddy forays into India market

The company has already started local currency payments and plans to go regional for tier-2 and tier-3 cities

Go Daddy.com, a web hosting and domain name provider has started its India operation. It is offering a one-stop shop for small businesses and consumers looking to grow businesses on the internet. The company provides from a simple domain name or a mobile website to cloud services. The company will soon be setting up its corporate office in Gurgaon and also will be beefing up local management. In June the company appointed Rajiv Sodhi as MD.

Speaking to The DQ Week, Sodhi said, "India is an important destination for Go Daddy, by the end of this year, our office in India is expected to be its largest, globally. Currently we have 10.3 mn customers globally and support 1.2 lakh customers in India with offerings ranging from Rs 350 to Rs 3,000. Moving forward we have plans to localize our offerings in a bid to penetrate the Indian market. Our foremost priority is to bring our world best practices to India and establishing our business. The web hosting market is highly fragmented and relatively new. Hence we are creating awareness about our cloud based solutions. We have already received 10,000 inquiries from customers about the business."

The US-based company recently launched operations in India and is investing very heavily in marketing. The company has already started local currency payments, it also plans to go regional for tier-2 and tier-3 cities. It has opened its first customer care center in Hyderabad with 40 agents, which plans to recruit 60 more agents.

Right from regional marketing campaigns to multi-lingual customer care executives, Go Daddy is all-geared to tap the growing SMB market.

The company is bullish on growing broadband penetration which is also creating demand for internet devices like internet and smartphones. The company has rolled its first TV commercial and soon will launch its Indian centric website and will kick start offline campaign to educate SMBs.
