Enjay launches its next-gen ThinClient Operating System

Gujarat-based Enjay IT Solutions, has announced the release of Enjay Tornado Operating System, for ThinClients, based on Linux for x86 platform.

Siddheshwar Parekh, VP, technical, Enjay IT Solutions, said, "Challenge in ThinClient OS is that on one hand you require small foot print embedded OS, which runs fast, and is read-only for most of the part, and on the second hand, you want that to be very scalable to included local applications, like Java Client apps, or Browsers of even office suits. So, we have come out with Enjay Tornado OS, which aims to meet both these requirements."

ThinClient segment in India is growing at a fast pace, especially after its widespread acceptance by SME Segment and with increasing popularity of cloud computing.

Enjay Tornado OS is a small footprint embedded thin client system which has some features of desktop OS also, like support for most popular printers as well as 3G Dongles or many many motherboard chipsets (module wise).

"Nowadays, Thin Client hardware is available in India very easily, as imports for MiniITX Cabinets and MiniITX Motherboards have increased, however there is dearth of ThinClient Operating system. Enjay Tornado is specifically designed for benefit of these OEM Thin client vendors. Enjay Tornado has some unique feature like branding for OEM, as well as online portal for licensing for our OEM Partners. More than 11 partners across India have agreed to bundle Enjay Tornado OS along with their ThinClient hardware," added Siddheshwar.

"Now there are so many types of hardware platforms available in market. We have designed Enjay Tornado OS to support most of them. We are also in process of releasing Enjay Tornado OS - for ARM platform shortly," he informed..
