Even when the Delhi Computers Traders Association (DCTA) is gearing up for its much delayed elections, there seems to be little trust left among the traders as far as the accountability of the association is concerned. The case of the unlawful confinement, extortion, harassment and threat to life to Saurabh Nagpal of Multilink Systems & Services is the latest incident, where the association has remained inept.

Even after almost three months has passed since Nagpal was allegedly beaten up by S Sood, Director, KUSP Electronics Pvt Ltd (KEPL), not even an FIR has been lodged in the police station. "I feel that the association must take up my case rather than me going through it alone. With all the threats that they have issued against me and my personal experiences, I am not confident to take the case alone," said

Nagpal.

Multilink had supplied hardware to KEPL, for which he received a post-dated cheque of Rs 6,17,780. The cheque dated August 14 bounced due to insufficient funds. When Nagpal went to collect the funds, he was allegedly beaten up severely by Sood and his staff members and was also threatened with death.

Shyam Modi, President, DCTA, said that the association was taking up the case with full commitment and has already filed the FIR in this regard. "In fact, the action taken in the case of Multilink was one of the `significant achievement' during my Presidentship," said he.

However, Nagpal feels that Modi was not forceful enough in pursuing the case even while admitting that they were there for approaching the police. The association had written a letter in this regard to the DCP (South) asking for stringent action to be taken against the defaulters. Nagpal feels that even the police authorities are inactive on the face of `high connections' of

KEPL.

Even on approaching P Kamaraj, DCP (South), he is still to get justice. He is yet to get his money back and the offenders are still at large. He intends to file a petition with the National Human Rights Commission as well as the Department of Economic Offences of Delhi Police in the coming week, since he has lost all faith in the DCTA doing something for him.

According to Nagpal, he is not the only person to be duped by KEPL. "If the association is active enough, the increasing number of such incidents can be restricted," said Nagpal. He is of the opinion that the resellers are too busy to take upon themselves the responsibility of a well functioning traders association.
