Data Science Foundation, in association with NASSCOM organized 2nd Annual Data Science Summit, the only of its kind seminar in Eastern region, on August 28 at The Park, Kolkata.

Big Data and Analytics is revolutionizing the way companies do business globally, which is no longer limited to the core IT sector. Leading organization across various industries, including financial, marketing, retail, to name a few, have increasingly high demand for the professional skills in Big Data and Analytics technologies. The seminar brought together the corporates, Institutions and Universities on one platform to discuss the pressing need to plug the gaps in upcoming technologies. Eminent speakers from leading organization including Airtel, ANZ, Unilever, Business Brio. TCG, Ideal Analytics, IIT Kharagpur, Indian Institute of Statistics etc. discussed the application of Big Data and Analytics in business and research domain and deliberated upon the way of IT and ITES professionals.

DebashishSen IAS, Chairman, HIDCO Govt. of West Bengal, Rajiv Vishnav, VP NASSCOM and Ambarish Dasgupta, head management consulting KPMG inaugurated the summit. Upendrajit Singh, Managing director, WEBEL presided over the program as the guest of Honor.

Gautam Banerjee, president, Data Science Foundation, while sharing his thoughts in welcome address said, “ Right collaboration between corporate and academia will help focus on tangible research on business problems leading to development of intellectual properties and meaningful patents helping India to take a lead on cutting edge subject of Data Science which is still in evolving stage and merely not depend on job creation only based out cost arbitrage in this new sector”.

Speaking at the session, MainakSen, Business Brio, emphasized on development of skill on vernacular text mining keeping in mind of social media participants in India while Soma Banarjee, director Data Brio Academy, emphasized on industry specific internship based skill development requirements in Analytics and Big Data domain.
