Aamchi Mumbai completes one year
Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Canon celebrated the first anniversary of its Aamchi Mumbai project recently at Hotel Taj, Mumbai. The company has also introduced a new project named 'Canon Print City'. The timeframe for this project is March 2009. Top 40 tier-2 partners along with senior level officials from Canon were present at the event.

Marking the celebration, Canon is sending 34 channel partners to Malaysia on July 22 to recognize their efforts.

VP Sajeevan, Senior VP, Canon said, “This is a special city-specific program. We are initially aiming to achieve 33 percent marketshare in the following cities-Jaipur, Indore, Cochin, Guwahati and Chandigarh. Once this is achieved, we will declare them as the Canon Print City.” In Mumbai and Bangalore, Canon has limited its target to 24 percent, which is also their next big challenge.

The company has plans to include more cities by the end of this year. “Our marketing teams and market strategies are ready, and we aim to capture more cities in Canon Print City project. We have channel programs above and below the line, and partners will definitely benefit from it. We are working on our seven-pillar strategy, and our primary focus is on our relationship with channel and brand visibility,” Sajeevan informed.

“We celebrated the success of our Aamchi Mumbai with great zeal, as this was the first project in the industry that has been successfully continued.

Since last six months, the company has experienced 45 percent growth, according to Sajeevan.

Canon is coming up with several new models in the laser segment, and several entry-level products can be expected to hit the market soon.

Before the project started, Canon's inkjet, AIO and laser marketshare was two, two and three percent, respectively, which jumped to 24, 18 and eight percent, respectively.
